Papa M - Whatever, Mortal (2001) (@256)

In this one, David Pajo is some light years away from the distinctive post-rock sound of Slint. With a little help from his friend (and charismatic musician) Will Oldham, he gives us (as Charles Spano notes in allmusic) "nothing less than one of the defining folk albums of its decade, worthy to be placed beside Van Morrison's Astral Weeks, Cohen's Songs From a Room, and Bob Dylan's later work like Time out of Mind and Love and Theft."
