Joe Strummer - Earthquake Weather (1989) (@256)

After two attempts with Sex Pistols and one with U.K. Subs, Julien Temple re-examines the times of UK punk through the direction of a documentary about Joe Strummer. The film's name is "The Future Is Unwritten" and it premiered in this year's Sundance festival with good reviews.
This upload offers Strummer's first solo album, long before he re-emerged in the music business with the Mescaleros. If you notice the names of the session musicians, you will find Jack Irons (Red Hot Chili Peppers/ Pearl Jam/ Neil Young) and Zander Schloss (Circle Jerks)

Bonnie 'Prince' Billy - Ease Down The Road (2001) (@256)

This is this final upload in the series of uploads concerning David Pajo. It is Pajo now who contributes in this excellent release of his friend Will Oldham (this time under the name Bonnie 'Prince' Billy)

Papa M - Whatever, Mortal (2001) (@256)

In this one, David Pajo is some light years away from the distinctive post-rock sound of Slint. With a little help from his friend (and charismatic musician) Will Oldham, he gives us (as Charles Spano notes in allmusic) "nothing less than one of the defining folk albums of its decade, worthy to be placed beside Van Morrison's Astral Weeks, Cohen's Songs From a Room, and Bob Dylan's later work like Time out of Mind and Love and Theft."

Tortoise - Millions Now Living Will Never Die (1996) (@256)

Taking the opportunity from our previous Slint upload, the following ones will be dedicated to one of my contemporary heroes, David Pajo (aka Papa M, Aerial M etc.). Pajo was (is) a member of Slint and he was also a member of Tortoise during the recording of the magnificent Millions Now Living Will Never Die. One could say that the collaboration of Pajo with John McEntire resulted in Tortoise's best lp.

Slint - Spiderland (1991) (@256)

Spectators of this year's Primavera music festival were lucky enough to see Slint presenting (one month ago on 31/5) live their album Spiderland, one of the most important releases of the 90's. "Spiderland remains one of the most essential and chilling releases in the mumbling post-rock arena. Even casual listeners will be able to witness an experimental power-base that the American underground has come to treasure. (...) Surely, years later, Spiderland is still a strong, slightly overrated, compelling piece of investigational despair that is a worthy asset to most any experimentalist's record collection." (allmusic)
